Justine's Retrievers and Doodles is a recommended Dog Breeder based in Sterling, CT. We have been breeding Goldendoodles and Golden Retrievers since 2009, with a focus on making the transition from our loving home to yours as easy as possible.
We strive to breed with the best quality we can, educate their new owners and ensure these precious puppies get the love, care and attention they deserve.
Our adult and puppies are home raised and live inside. Home raised puppies tend to be more well-adjusted and socialized, as they are exposed to different experiences and stimuli from an early age. They are also more accustomed to human touch, household noises, and daily routines, making them better suited for life as a family pet.
Justine Bates has dedicated her life to canine welfare, building over 30 years of experience rooted in passion, professional skill, and a commitment to ethical breeding.
Meet Justine Bates: Owner of Justine's Retrievers and Doodles
Her journey began at age 19, working at a local kennel, where she delivered her very first litter—an experience that ignited a lifelong dedication to dogs. This passion led her to immerse herself in rescue work, focusing on training, rehoming, and managing kennels, providing her with a deep, practical understanding of animal behavior.

Seeking to further her expertise, Justine served as a Surgical Veterinary Technician, gaining valuable, hands-on knowledge in animal health and medical care. Her specialization deepened as an independent Animal Neonatal Care Specialist, working with veterinarians to provide critical care to the most fragile of puppies, showcasing her unwavering dedication to ensuring every life gets the best possible start.
​What began as a focus on showing Golden Retrievers evolved into a powerful mission with the founding of Justine's Retrievers and Doodles in 2009. Justine's current approach is driven by a commitment to helping families avoid being scammed or overcharged by irresponsible breeders. Her core philosophy for keeping dogs out of shelters is simple yet profound: by raising healthy, well-balanced puppies that are set up for success from day one.
